Dear Brothers & Sisters In Islam
اَلسَّلاَمْ عَلَيْـــiـــــــــــــــــكُمْ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللہِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Kindly Watch Al URJOO’NAL QADEEM like phase of moon tomorrow, Tuesday – 29th of Dhul Hijijah 1441 (18th of August 2020 ) at Fajr time on Eastern sky. It will be seen as very thin and very close to the horizon.
Al Urjoo’nal Qadeem like phase is described in Noble Qur’aan in verse 36:39 as the last visible phase of the moon for a month.
Wednesday 30th of DhulHijjah 1441 (19th of August) is the Conjunction Day or the last day of this month.
WANING moon will NOT be seen with naked eyes from anywhere in the world on that Universal day of Wednesday
Rasool (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) has indicated / described such an event of veiling of moon as GUMMA, GUBBIYYA, KHAFFÌYA etc. Just as these words do not mean “clouds” Ghummah used in hadeeth “… Soomoo Li ruyiathi hi ….” too does not mean “clouds”.
All these words indicate or describe or point to the veiling of moon which occurs on the last day of every month, or in other words, DAY of CONJUNCTION.
Kindly àlso refer the explanation given for the verse 71:16 in Tafseer Ibn Katheer to know more about veiling of moon occuring every month which marks the passing of lunar month.
Hence, Muharram 1442 starts at Fajr on Thursday (20th of August 2020) for all throughout the world
Days of Ashoora fasting (9th &10th of Muharram) fall on Friday & Saturday (28th & 29th of August 2020) for all Muslims throughout the world.
All are requested to fast on these days. In Sha Allah.
Please note that Dhul Hijjah & Muharram are among the four Sacred months (verse 9:36) and if the start or end of a Sacred month falls on a wrong day of the week it amounts to commiting Nasiyu which Noble Quran describes in verse 9.37 as Ziadathun fil Kufr
It was NOT the practice of the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) to search the SETTING hilaal on the West in order to start the new month after seeing it.
There is no authentic hadeeth to that effect. We have been asking for such an authentic one for many decades. No one has produced any such hadees so far.
Authentic hadeeth in fact says that the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) observed all the phases of the moon throughout the year especially those of Sha’baan.
We request all to follow this Sunnah.
We also request all Muslims to study, more thoroughly without any prejudice, this important subject, which demarcates haraam & halaal, and request all to follow the correct calendar which has dates tallying exactly with waxing and waning phases of moon as directed in Quraanic verse 2:189.
